OpenAI adds a $500 Pro plan with Astra Ultrafast and changes Pro 200 allowances
Pro 500 adds a higher-usage subscription tier. Ultrafast consumes allowance faster. Eligible Pro 200 subscribers can keep their previous allowance through October 29, after which the allowance falls while the monthly price stays unchanged.

OpenAI introduced Pro 500 on September 29 at $500 a month, including the Ultrafast tier for GPT-6 Astra. It is the highest-allowance Pro plan; the launch recap describes its allowance as 25 times that of Plus. The other monthly Pro tiers cost $100 and $200. Neither includes Ultrafast, and buying credits alone does not unlock it.
Faster output also changes allowance consumption. The help page says GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast consumes included usage at eight times the Standard-mode rate. That is not a guaranteed speed improvement, and purchased credits have separate rates. Included allowance is used before a credit balance.
Pro 200 is available to new subscribers again with a lower allowance. Customers who had an active Pro 200 subscription between September 22 and 10 a.m. Pacific Time on September 29, 2026 can retain the previous allowance through October 29 while their subscription is active. It then moves to the lower allowance at the same $200 monthly price. Grandfathering adds neither Pro 500 nor Ultrafast.
