GPT-6.1 Sol improves coding and computer use without changing standard API prices

GPT-6.1 Sol targets coding and computer tasks. Standard API prices remain $2/$10 per million input/output tokens, with cached input at $0.10. At launch, access starts in Work, Codex and the API.

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol at DevDay on September 29, about a week after its predecessor. The model targets coding, computer use and professional work, with the API name gpt-6.1-sol. Standard input and output remain $2 and $10 per million tokens; cached input costs $0.10. The cached price is 95% below standard input, but an application saves that amount only on eligible, reusable context that actually hits the cache.

OpenAI says the new model exceeds GPT-6 Sol's highest result by 6.4 percentage points in DeepSWE v1.1 codebase tasks, reaching Astra-level performance at about one-fifth the cost per task. In OSWorld 2.0 computer tasks, it reports a gain of 7 percentage points over its predecessor at less than half the task cost. These comparisons use specified tasks and reasoning settings, so the cost ratios cannot be applied directly to every workload.

At launch, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users can use standard Sol in ChatGPT Work and Codex; ordinary chat access was not yet available. Reported performance and safety improvements come from vendor tests, and error rates on deliberately difficult evaluations do not directly represent everyday use.
