ChatGPT joins Slack and Teams for shared team work
After an admin enables it, teams can mention ChatGPT in channels, threads or direct messages to use permitted sources and produce plans, reports or presentations. Personal accounts and private information are not shared automatically.

OpenAI announced @ChatGPT for Slack and Microsoft Teams at DevDay on September 29. Team members can request work in a channel, thread or direct message, then add context, correct details and revise results together. Discussions can become plans, reports, presentations and other work products.
An organization’s administrator must enable access. The launch recap lists Business and Enterprise; the current feature page also lists Edu. Members in enabled channels do not each need an individual ChatGPT license, but availability depends on the organization’s setup. ChatGPT can use company tools connected by an admin, while access to personal accounts requires permission.
OpenAI says this does not automatically expose full channel histories, private conversations or personal ChatGPT histories. Replies are visible to people with access to the shared conversation, while files may have separate permissions. Actions in connected tools remain subject to permissions and approval. Repeated work can become scheduled team tasks, depending on the connected tools.
