Anthropic announced an expanded General Services Administration (GSA) agreement that gives government partners a 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government, and the Claude API. It says the discount applies across every product surface for the first time—including direct purchases today and via cloud providers in coming months—and extends to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments. Anthropic estimates about $1 billion in savings, with no minimum spend and usage-based billing. It claims roughly 500 federal, state, and local organizations use Claude; weekly Claude for Government actives are up about eightfold since February, and federal civilian usage about 20-fold in a year—vendor claims.

Public-sector examples (Utah’s 34-developer pilot, an 8-minute vs 2–3-day ransomware response claim, Mythos finding a critical vuln, etc.) are Anthropic’s accounts. Compliance and buying: Claude for Government went GA on September 30 with near commercial feature parity at FedRAMP High; agencies can also use Claude on Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud Vertex AI (FedRAMP High; selected Bedrock models DoD IL4/IL5 in GovCloud). Claude Enterprise is pursuing FedRAMP Moderate via FedRAMP 20x. Agencies can buy at the OneGov discount through GSA’s Multiple Award Schedule today via Anthropic’s public-sector team.
