Anthropic launches Claude Duet: proactive agent research preview for US Pro/Max

Anthropic opened a Claude Duet research preview—a standalone iOS/Android app and claude.ai experience on Claude Opus 5.5 with morning briefs and background tasks, asking before send/pay/sign/delete; included at no extra cost on Pro/Max in the US waitlist preview, sharing plan usage limits.

Anthropic says it is opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent: it surfaces what needs attention, completes assigned tasks, keeps working when the user steps away, and checks before acting on the user’s behalf. It is available as a standalone iOS and Android app and on claude.ai. Anthropic writes that it is designed around Claude Opus 5.5 and built to judge what needs the user, what can wait, and when to ask first.

Each morning it sends a short brief on the most important items across connected apps, and through the day it monitors those apps and messages only when something needs attention, the company says. Users can also hand it tasks ranging from scheduling meetings to building dashboards, forecasts, prototypes, and web apps. Claude’s help center adds that Duet is used like messaging a person (typed or spoken), works in connected apps, and is designed to ask before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything.

For this research preview, Anthropic says Claude Duet is included in Pro and Max plans for users in the US via a waitlist, shares the plan’s usage limits with the rest of Claude, and—per support docs—comes at no extra cost while background work such as the morning brief also counts toward limits. Anthropic calls it an early version that may still misread a thread or miscalibrate urgency; personal errands are weaker, it cannot yet show its browser, and it lives in its own app separate from the main Claude app. Support also notes prompt-injection risk from third-party content and asks users to review drafts and approval requests.
