Cloudflare adds audio and video decisions with Clef-omni, cuts Clef-flash pricing and context
Cloudflare released the open-weight Clef-omni decision model with native audio and video input, alongside a Clef-flash price cut and faster hosted Clef responses.
Clef-omni scores predefined options from text, images, audio and video with sound in one call, supporting classification, detection and workflow decisions. Cloudflare says this avoids first chaining together models such as speech-to-text systems. Supported audio formats are wav and mp3; video formats are mp4 and webm. It does not generate open-ended answers or speech output.
The announcement lists prices per million input tokens: Clef-flash falls from $0.09 to $0.038, Clef remains $0.24, and Clef-omni costs $0.15. The cut reduces hosted Clef-flash’s context from the previously advertised 64k to 24k; Clef keeps 64k. Clef-flash’s open weights are unchanged and were trained for 256k context, according to the company, for those deploying it themselves.
Cloudflare’s hosted Clef tests show median latency for roughly 3,400 input tokens falling from 616 to 305 milliseconds, with the 95th percentile dropping from 777 to 531 milliseconds. The acceleration comes from serving infrastructure changes, without new weights for that update. Separately, the company reports about 130 milliseconds median latency for text-only Clef-omni decisions and about 1.5 seconds to score a 21-second video with sound.
Cloudflare says the Clef family is available through AI Gateway and compatible with the Jev API; Clef-omni weights are also on Hugging Face. The announcement directs readers to developer documentation for image and audio conversion into billable input tokens, so the listed rates alone do not establish a per-image or per-minute media cost.
