OpenAI doubles Work and Codex limits on several Pro plans

According to The Decoder on 29 October 2026, OpenAI doubled usage limits on several paid Pro tiers: Work and Codex quotas on Pro 100 and Pro 500 both double; on Pro 200 the lower allowance doubles and a planned cut was reversed after user pushback. Plus is unchanged. New and existing customers get the update automatically. OpenAI says a larger allowance is not the same as twice as many completed tasks.

The Decoder reported on 29 October 2026 that OpenAI doubled usage limits for several paid tiers. The changes affect Work and Codex quotas on the Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans, which both get twice the previous allotment. On Pro 200, OpenAI doubled the lower quota and reversed a planned cut after user pushback. The Plus plan stays the same. New subscriptions already include the updated quotas, and existing customers get them automatically. Decoder quotes OpenAI saying that doubling a quota does not mean twice as many completed tasks, since consumption varies by model, task type, and settings. Expanded limits for the new “Dots” remain in place for now, with Dot usage tracked separately. OpenAI says it will keep shipping better models and efficiency gains to push usable capacity higher; Decoder notes the recent 6.1 Terra and Sol releases as more efficient while matching or beating predecessors. Framing that the move coincides with Anthropic’s IPO preparations and B2B competition is Decoder’s narrative, not an independently verified OpenAI statement about this quota change, and is attributed accordingly.
