xAI releases Grok 4.7: aimed at coding and knowledge work, at the same price and speed as Grok 4.6

xAI released Grok 4.7, which it calls its most capable model for coding and knowledge work: it works longer on hard tasks, checks its own work more carefully and comes with its best-calibrated safeguards to date, at the same price and speed as Grok 4.6. Grok 4.7 is live in Cursor and Grok Build and via the Grok API, starting at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens.

xAI says Grok 4.7 uses a new, larger base model than Grok 4.6 and was trained with a longer reinforcement-learning run on a harder mix of tasks, weighted toward problems that take many hours; it is better at verifying its own work and managing longer context, and was trained to natively understand the Grok Bot harness, improving conversational and general knowledge work.

The company says Grok 4.7 is at the frontier in price-performance on CursorBench 4.0, which stresses longer-running coding tasks; it is better at creating documents and presentations, improves on Grok 4.6 on GDPval and AA Briefcase, which simulate work by lawyers, nurses and financial analysts, and performs comparably to other frontier models. All results are self-reported by xAI.

On safety, xAI says Grok 4.7 uses an entirely new safeguard stack and is the strongest model it has tested on refusals and jailbreak resistance: it scores 62.4% on LatchBio’s biosafety benchmark and lets through only 3.3% of risky dual-use cyber prompts on its own HackerBench v0.3, while rarely blocking legitimate security work. xAI has also begun giving select cybersecurity partners invite-only access to Grok 4.7’s red-team capabilities for defense research.

Grok 4.7 is available now in Cursor and Grok Build, and through the Grok API, third-party coding harnesses, model routers and cloud platforms. Pricing starts at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens; a fast variant offers twice the output speed at twice the price. xAI says it can be tried for free in Grok Build.
